I contacted our local animal shelter today to find out about their volunteer program. As part of our school studies, Kira and Marisa will begin volunteering at the shelter next week. Rite Aid happens to be within a mile of my house and is relatively easy to get in and out compared to other places around here, so I chose the path of least resistance even though I knew the prices would be slightly higher.

I bought a pack of Safari Animals and a foil lasagna pan. I had some sand already. I set her up and explained how to glue the animals and various rocks and trees into place first, then we would add the sand and other embellishments.

Oh my gosh, we had such a blast at the beach when we were on vacation. We went out on Thursday morning during low tide and discovered dozens of tide pools to be explored.

I just want to say that I am so glad that both of the girls are now old enough to be kicked out of the house.

Yes - you read that right. I kick my 3 yr old and 5 yr old out of the house. (SHE IS SO STILL THREE YEARS OLD! At least til Saturday...when I will begrudgingly admit that she has gained a year.... very begrudgingly.)

(finally) The sun is shining. The weather is nice. Outside is the place to be.

Now is the perfect time to plant something. Seeds are not expensive and children love to plant things and watch them grow. You can buy a small planter and a bag of garden soil at the Dollar Tree. (I love that place...) Set up your supplies outside and have some fun.

I only have a brief moment tonight, but I want to share with you what I have learned over the past couple of days.

1) Home made costumes are far better than store bought costumes. It doesn't matter how uncreative one might be your young child will enjoy that hand made costume so much and won't even notice all the imperfections.
